Do I need previous experience?
No. A Taste of Blacksmithing, A Day in the Forge and the Foundation course all start with safety, posture, the fire and basic techniques. Premium is for participants with a sound foundation; we discuss your experience before a standalone Premium booking.
What do the courses cost?
A Taste of Blacksmithing normally costs € 145,00 per person and A Day in the Forge normally costs € 319,00. Temporary autumn offer: €129 instead of €145 for available regular Taste sessions, and €279 instead of €319 for A Day in the Forge on 24 October 2026 only. Other full-day dates remain €319. The offer is applied automatically without a code. Foundation costs € 2.295,00, Premium € 1.995,00, and the combined route € 3.995,00 per person. Prices include VAT. Gift cards retain their normal prices. Team sessions are quoted individually.
What is included?
Use of the forge, fires, anvils, hand tools and course materials is included. The listing for each full-day or multi-day course indicates whether lunch is included.
What will I make?
During A Taste of Blacksmithing, you forge a bottle opener with a curl. During A Day in the Forge, you make a matching pair of bookends. Projects for other courses can vary; we share their exact details with participants.
What should I wear?
Wear long trousers, cotton or wool clothing and safety shoes. Avoid synthetic or loose clothing, tie back long hair and follow the instructor's safety instructions. Safety glasses and hearing protection are compulsory. Safety shoes may be available to rent or buy on site.
How many people join a course?
Courses run with at least four participants and generally have at most six per session. Private team sessions are available for four to fifteen participants. Contact us about larger groups.
Can I give a course as a gift?
Yes. Choose a particular course or a custom amount. After payment, the buyer receives a personalised digital PDF gift card to give to the recipient.
Where are the courses held?
At Kunst- en Siersmederij Rein Tupker & Zn., Koningsweg 6A, 3762 EC Soest, the Netherlands. We send parking and arrival details with your confirmation.
Can someone under 18 participate?
Only after discussing it with Tupker beforehand. Age, supervision, physical capacity and the chosen programme all matter.
How do I book?
Select a course and an available date, enter your details and pay securely through Mollie. Your place is reserved after successful payment. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we contact you about another date or a refund.
Can a course be moved or cancelled?
This can happen if there are too few participants, an instructor is unavailable or a safety issue arises. The applicable cancellation terms are linked at checkout. The terms are currently available in Dutch.
